A Grand Experiment

Candidate Obama promised change. President Obama is actually conducting a grand experiment—with our economy, with our country and now with our health care. If President Obama and the Democrats in Congress are successful, they will turn our nation into something that we will hardly recognize.

President Obama’s experimentations began with our economy.

He experimented with a budget-busting stimulus plan intended to reduce unemployment. That experiment cost us $780 billion, and unemployment continues to rise. He experimented with banks and auto companies. As a result, taxpayers are on the hook for tens of billions of dollars, and the president still doesn’t have a plan to end this experiment and get these companies off the government dole.

When President Obama addressed a credit crisis, a struggling economy, a housing bust, bankrupt auto companies, Wall Street failures…whatever the problem was, Americans saw him spending, and spending, and spending more. Today, the president’s experiments have left America in more debt than at any other time in our nation’s history. And he keeps rushing his experiments through Congress so fast, so soon, that we haven’t had a moment to think if they would really work – or instead have a devastating impact on all of us for years to come.

Now the president is proposing even more debt, more risk and more experimentation. Next on his list is a risky trillion dollar experiment with our health care. President Obama and Congressional Democrats want to control health care with a government-run system that will determine your care, your treatments, your medicines, even what doctor you can see. If they get it wrong, the consequences would last for generations. But Congress is rushing to pass this risky experiment in just two months.

The Barack Obama experiment with America is a risk our country cannot afford. It is simply too much, too fast, too soon.

Slow down, Mr. President. We can’t afford to get health care wrong.

I found out about this on c-span this moring., Michael Steele was speaking at the National Press Club.. This webb page is exactly what I was looking for, away to get the word out. Everything is here we need. This webb page has to get more exposure, I'm sending it to everyone, no matter what party, or no party. Our time to act is NOW. Thank you very much. I will be emailing and calling all day. This had gotten me fired up.

Let's not forget that the devastating state of the economy was in it's condition BEFORE Obama stepped into office. Don't you just love how the repubs can point fingers and place blame, and yet refuse to accept any responsibility? Where were their voices of concern when the economy was in the toilet before Obama stepped into office? Hyprocrites.

  3. Photon says:

So, Steele, where are your ideas to reform health care? Politicians from both parties over the last few decades have demonstrated little except hypocrisy, self-indulgence, and finger pointing. At least the Obama administration is making an effort to improve transparency and attack real problems head-on. When will the Republican Party actually step up to the plate and offer some real ideas? This web site is yet another counter-productive political blame-mongering exercise. You should be ashamed of yourself.

  4. Listen says:

If you take the time to listen to his presentation, you will find out that he provides quite a number of ideas. Stop the finger pointing and just say NO to government run health care.

  5. Seriously? says:

This is what the Republican Party decides to waste their time on? Another pathetic web site to blame the only people at least trying to make it better? They did as much to start the problem as democrats did, however now democrats are the only ones trying to solve it now.

Excuse me, Rebublicans! "Turning our nation into something that we will hardly recognize" is NOT a bad thing. Things are awful right now from so many perspectives and a major makeover/overhaul IS needed. You need to start listening. It's like you're saying:
    - I like my room's olive and orange 70's decor or
    - I like my 80s mullet (sp?) or
    - I like spending a lot on gas.
What is wrong with you? A major housecleaning is needed in the U.S. and we finally have someone with a brain on his shoulders to make it happen. Let him (Obama) do what the voters elected him to do. And for you, you need to stop supporting the big corp interests and do what is right, too.

From a healthcare perspecitve, there are too many folks needing universal healthcare. Stop ignoring them! From a car mpg perspective, we need European standards! Stop serving special interest! From an environment perspecitve, the EPA and FDA need to be totally overhauled (see http://www.ewg,org). We demand that you stop harming us! We're tired of you padding your pockets against our best interests!

Time to get real, real fast! Don't make this another American people vs. Big business! These are deperate times! I hope that Obama can defeat the giants! (By the way, you're ratings with the American people are going up. Ignore the polls as they are a fabrication intended to brainwash the average American (like usual). But we're not having any of it anymore!) Go David, Go!

  8. Amazed says:

Please! The only polls that have been fabricated are those administered by the main stream media that are, and have been, having a slobbering love affair with BO since the beginning of his whole campaign (which, by the way, makes up for 60% of his political career). Uninformed voters elected an inexperienced and unqualified candidate because they were more concerned about "making history" than they were about the welfare of our nation. Hubris + inexperience = catastrophe. And a catastrophe is what this nation is heading for. BO doesn't even have the qualifications to run a Fortune 500 company but bleeding hearts put him in charge of the most powerful nation in the world. Wow!

BO has spent more money in the first six months of his presidency than all other presidents combined. Come on liberals, you can't blame W. for THAT! Maybe if the bills were actually READ, people would reconsider them. But, oh that's right, BO doesn't want them read – that's why he's insistent on pushing them through so fast. He's afraid. Plus, that's not what Nancy wants. Let's try to all learn from our mistakes! The best predictor of future outcome is past outcome. Look at the less than mediocre job the government has done running Medicare, Social Security, the railroad, the postal service….why does ANYONE think they'll do any better running corporate America or healthcare. Wake up.

Stop doing what's "popular" with your friends. Get the facts. Do your homework. Learn about politics. If you can't be a responsible, informed voter DON'T vote! Your decisions effect the rest of us.
